See?

Beloved, take comfort. I hope you do.
Miraculous things hide amongst the mundane.
See all the blessings God has given you!

Family bonds, though rocky as you grew…
misunderstood, yes…but, see how much gain
imperfect, still they loved you and you knew

So boy turned to man, soldier tall in blue.
Confidence and strength are not gained without pain.
Fate steps in. The man and mate say, “I do”–

To war and back, past old hurts and brand new.
To me, you’re priceless. No words can explain…
How loved you are. Look at large bird eye view!

If losing your smile to troubles that brew,
You are their hero. In them, you remain!
No matter how far your troubles pursue,

if all else fails, let love carry you through
miraculous/mundane — come home again.
Beloved, take comfort. I hope you do.
See all the blessings God has given you?

This poem was written for a challenge on Indie Ink. I was challenged by Sir to write about the importance of finding the miraculous in the mundane. I challenged Catherine to write on the topic of “inhumanity”. :)

  1. Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh I love the way you alternated the rhyme scheme between the 1st and 3rd lines of each verse and the 2nd line of every verse. I love the thought behind it and the poem itself.

  2. This was so lovely and a wonderful take on miraculous/mundane. The poetry was so simple and yet the sentiments so powerful. A beautiful read.
