Alone

Ordinary, and quite common
A star in a star ocean, fading in dark obscurity
too far from the eye to stand out in the crowd.
Taking comfort in solitude, alone
in crowded rooms.

Physical and emotionless light-years
Separation from what surrounds.
Mild hunger and vague longing for you
feed on what remains of my soul
providing impetus, fuel
a war between my desire for your presence
and the pleasure/pain of simply being
alone.
